A person's view of justice is often tempered by the full sweep of their life's journey.. The good times, the painful seasons, and the quiet in‑between moments all weave themselves into the tapestry of one’s thinking at any given time. Resolution and determination can lead a person to crossroads where choices bring anguish, euphoria, or despair. In such moments, love and hate can feel less like deliberate decisions and more like forces rising from overwhelming experiences and long‑carried memories.
Take, for example, a life born into wealth and luxury. Such a person may grow up in a vacuum of assumed goodness, surrounded by self-fulfilling comforts where choices are engineered to please the individual-often at the cost of all other valuations. In that environment, one can mature with little or no consideration for the feelings of others or the worthiness of opinions not tailored to personal satisfaction. Yet history teaches us that, on occasion, a love rooted in deeper insight and broader compassion can break through that insulated world. At peculiar moments and unexpected places, a single relationship or encounter has transformed such a life. Some would even call these moments miraculous.
A life filled with love, care, and joyful experiences can shape a hopeful outlook, but even that blessing carries a subtle danger. One may settle into a pleasant valley where everything appears through rose-colored glasses. If the emotional guardrails that once kept a person grounded begin to fade, the very softness of that life can leave them unprepared for treachery. In such a state, they may be misread as someone trapped in trouble or hate, when in truth they are simply disoriented by the contrast between the world they knew and the world they suddenly face.
Life can be treacherous-even for those with the best upbringing, the strongest intellect, or the most nurturing environment. Justice, then, is not merely an abstract principle; it is a lens shaped by wounds and wonders alike, by the valleys we survive and the mountains we climb, and by the unexpected grace that sometimes breaks through when we least expect it.
As one thinks on these things they may find a miraculous moment to keep for their own.
